Photography research:
Amy Friend:
Amy Friend studied in the Ontario Collage of Art and Design, and works in the medium for photography. Her work is known all over the world as she came in the top 50 photographers. Friends photos were like glowing memories of poems of 'stardust' and 'shimmer'. She also created a lyrical series which she was also well known for. Amy focused her work about the idea of relating to time,memory, impermanence and the fluctuations.
Florence Henri:
Florence Henri attended Premliminary course. Florence's work was often recognised for his reality and reflection. She experimented with phtomontage, multiple exposers and negative printing when it came to printing out her work. Henri was also a freelance photographer best known for often using prisms and reflection to 'complicate' her images.
Abelardo Morel:
Abelardo Morel was best known for using an 'obscure technique'. His photos varied from black and white photography a lot of the time. He also spent a large body work on household objects and antique book pages. Abelardo also made a couple of publications of Alice in Wonderland and Book of books.

End of year 10 project:
Tessa sitting, Lucas Blalock:
Lucas Blalock uses a white wall as his background for the picture. Placed in the middle of the picture you can just about make out a light, wooden deck chair where an unusual figure seems to be seated. It's seems as if there is someone who is sat on the chair with a light green jacket almost wrapped around them, completely covering their body; showing nothing but their arms. Planted in the corner of the picture is a long light plank of wood; resting up against the wall. In addition to this, there is also a white stool that resembles a pillar, not too far from the wooden chair, surrounded by some dark red ropes, or wires. Positioned above the figure are characteristics that seem to resemble those of a face, however there are parts missing. You can just about make out the left eye and the nose, whilst the face is squiggled out with a black outline which is also uneven and jagged, making it hard to identify anything about the physical appearance of the figure. The shapes and lines in this photo are very abnormal. When looking at the picture is has a smooth texture- not involving the face. Altogether the picture doesn't involve a lot of colour or tone, however would not be categorised as a dark photo, as the colours overall are quite light. The atmosphere in this picture is strange and unusual. It's a different way of "thinking outside of the box" as such. Overall i would say this a different type of photography;
as Portraits including people are usually very different to this one, so it draws us in and allows us to question his ideas and inspiration for this certain picture.
I believe Lucas Blalock thought he would create something different from a normal portrait of someone. The props he has used are also unexpected and unfamiliar. This is as you wouldn't usually come across the objects Lucas has used for his photo. As well as this, using what looks like a jacket to cover someone's identity isn't something you would usually come across when looking at different photography. If i was asked to re-create this photo, i believe i would change some of the background tools Lucas uses for this picture. However i would keep the chair and figure as i think that is the main subject of that photo. I would use different objects that were available but stick to the idea of them being uncommon.
When studying this picture, i have mixed emotions and feelings about it. There is a playful disjointedness in this image which makes me feel uneasy about the photo. It's also frustrating for me as the incoherence of the work is inconsistent and unclear. The feeling of not being able to see the whole of the face clearly, and knowing there is most likely someone under the clothing; but not being able to see this gives me small feeling of uncertainty. However despite these minor issues i do find the photo extremely interesting. I admire how Lucas has used his creative skills to create a whole completely different idea to make it more eye-catching and interesting for us as an audience to explore. If i was able to question Lucas i would ask him what he was inspired by to create that piece, what his intention were, and why he chose to picture that specific part of his work.
When looking at photographers work and studying it, it can be a useful thing to re-search your photographer. This allows you to get a good idea on their work and how they function when it comes to using a camera. It may also allow you to understand why they do their photography in a certain way; and why they do this. As i was studying Lucas Blalock i thought it would be useful to do some follow up research. Lucas attempts to relate to something by drawing with his camera when working. Lucas says he uses three steps w hen creating his work. Using his camera, scanning it, and then uses his computer to work on his photos and develop them; as well as this Lucas is also a fan with using photo shop for his photos. Blalock also mentions that he uses "pathetic quality objects" with his work as he finds it inspiring and is able to find good uses out of them. This image relates to the theme "disguise" as it's hiding this persons identity, using the green jacket allows them to hide behind it, and the face being not clear doesn't allow us to see what they really look like. Therefore this links to using a disguise themselves.

'Disguise'shoot challenge:
Assessment part 2:
For the second part of our assessment we were asked to create at least 5 images that related to our chosen theme for the first part of the assessment, as my chosen theme was 'disguise', i took a series of images that related to the image by Lucas Blalock.
